Emil Villa`s Hickory Pit in Hayward

Spotted this place on the drive to our hotel, after a quick search I New this was going to be our dinner. Looks nothing special from the outside but walk through the door and get greeted with a big smile and a wave. Seated at once, menu and drinks order take. We were given ample time to look over the menu and went for the family chicken and ribs, you know your going to get something big when they take the divider out between the tables to make more room, and it was needed. The chicken, ribs, Cole slaw, beans, French fries, bread rolls and sauce took up the whole table, all was piping hot, and the meat fell of the bones. It was first class food with first class service. Staff were very helpful and friendly, we even had to box it up and bring it home there was that much. Well worth a visit

The steak came out well done when we asked for medium, no flavor in any of the sides and the ribs really really tough. Not sure if it's a bad day but we did not enjoy our food.

Good food & great service. Salad was very fresh & BBQ pork ribs are tender and yummy. Lunch comes in a good portion & a reasonable price, I will go back for lunch again.

So Disappointed! I used to go to EVs for many many years, Loved their well prepared juicy tender smoked ribs I moved away a few years ago and had not been there in 5 years. I was in Hayward the other day and was looking forward to an EV treat - takeout style. I got home ready to dig in and found the ribs so poorly done. Almost not cooked - tough no smoke flavor. If i want ribs like that i can make them myself.

We had not been here in a long time. Since we were passing thru Bay Area decided to get some ribs to go. Service was prompt, and the ribs were as tasty as I remembered. Even my daughter who normally doesn't eat pork ate them and liked them. We also ordered a peach whip pie. I recall way in the past they only made these in August, with loads of whip cream on top. Well it was ok, not as heavenly good as I remembered, the whip cream could have been sweeter. Will come back for ribs next time we are in the area

I always have my pork sandwich on a Dutch crunch with red sauce barbque sauce that's got to be hot for dipping along with French fries and tea.. The service is good and the food always nice and hot. They also, I Think, do the best breakfast in California.

Kind of old restaurant but clean the staff is very friendly and helpful.I went around 4pm order a combo plater with the original ribs and the steak . fries were ok. Fair price $40.00 total .Disappointed but I may give it another try 🤞🏻

The food was delicious, friendly service. My only concern was all of the smoke in the restaurant. Since they cook the ribs in there the place is very smokey. I was starting to get a headache. I will definitely be back just probably get it to go. I wish they had better ventilation or doors open. Overall though food was amazing, so that's what's the most important.

Stop in for some bar b que. And was shocked how pricey this place was. 30.00 for a rack of ribs is outrageous. I'm from Los Angeles and ribs don't cost this much I don't care who mad them. So I ended up getting a turkey burger how Funny

Meat was kinda dry. Sauce was good though.

" Disappointed ", FOOD Way TOO SALTY & Under Cooked, i asked for Beef ribs cashier Claimed they Only Sold " Pork ", Beef was on the Sign as a Dinner Special. Mash Potatoes were Yellowish like Baby Poop. I havent had a Head ache in 15 years AFTER eating their Food I've Had 2 already after eating their " Beef " Ribs " Each Time "!!!. SORRY Emil " Your Food is Tasteless " & Heck of Salty. The Ribs were " Tough " As Hell to Chew After i had to Re- Cook from Pink to Brown. NOT Worth The $24.99 !!! For 2 ribs , Poo-poo Mashed Potatoes and Costco Boil & Serve Mixed Vegetables. I can Do WAY Better at Home. !!!

I went a couple of times since I was staying at a hotel nearby for a business trip. Tried both the BBQ pork sandwich and the Philly cheesesteak. Both were absolutely delicious. Loved the Cole slaw as a side to the BBQ and would recommend something other than the potato salad as a side unless you really love mayonnaise. Also had the strawberry pie which was absolutely outstanding. Would highly recommend this restaurant for their sandwiches.

Great food great customer service

Emil Villa’s is very good at making ribs, they are usually thick and juicy. Their customer service is good. However, the facility is old, and not the cleanest or newest. Personally don’t use the men’s bathroom unless it’s an emergency. I did get hair in my food once, but it hasn’t happened since, so probably just an outlier. If you’re looking for a casual BBQ, give Emil’s a try!

Childhood nostalgia. Emil Villa's has one of the best pork ribs and BBQ sauce that I've tried. I don't come here often but when I'm back home and craving rib's. This is the place I come to.

Excellent staff. Cozy pies, meat and simple bbq sauce and dishes. Parking lot. Family dinner and senior prices. Baked beans breakfast, lunch & dinner. I went for hunk of pie and big bowl of ice cream! Everyone needs a stress eat day! On mission in Hayward. Beer and wine only! Staff always greet you with a smile.

Wanted some bbq. Googled and up popped this joint. And what a joint. Got the slab of Saint Lewis ribs. OMG! OMG! OMG! Tender, juicy, flavorful bbq(iddy) goodness. 🤤🤤🤤 Wonderful customer service even got some freebies because apparently the potato salad is delish too because they were ALL out. So when I return and I WILL RETURN, I will get the whole shebang.

I didn't like the beef ribs they had, but they offered to make Fresh ones. A little pricey, but couldn't find them elsewhere.

The Fish N Chips consists of frozen triangle fish sticks. I should have known better than coming here, but really, how can you prepare yourself for this much disappointment? It's funny in how sad it is that they would pass this off as fish and chips and charge $21 for this atrocity, a salad, and a coke.

Ribs were awesome and the service was up to par

At the first moment you come to this place the personel give you an enjoyable feeling. Very courteous waiters, it is a lovely restaurant to to go out with buddies or with your date. Great food, specialist chief cook and stuff, comfortable price and excellent service. Warmly recommended.

Kind of an old restaurant (physically speaking), but good bbq! Don't be fooled by its looks.

Been going since I was a kid always great hope it doesn't go away like so many other places in Hayward.

A throw back to the 60's. This Hayward location is the original. Great ribs sauce and oh yes must have pie. Delicious.

Their food is great, employees are nice but they have a big issue that they are lack of efficiency. I understand when it is busy everything is slow but what I have observed is that they do not have any management, no SOP, communication between employee is chaos. If they improve their management I would be happy to give them a five star comment.

I got a half rack of ribs and although they were meaty, some were tough and just not very good, most every other place I’ve been to has better ribs
